Maternity Session in New Orleans City Park

There’s something incredibly beautiful about the season right before everything changes.

The waiting.
The anticipation.
The quiet moments between two people preparing to become parents.

This maternity session in New Orleans City Park felt soft, intimate, and deeply connected from beginning to end. Instead of focusing on overly posed moments, we leaned into movement, natural interaction, and documenting this season honestly as it unfolded.

One of the things I loved most about this session was how effortless it felt. The light filtering through the trees, the softness of the wardrobe styling, and the way these two naturally interacted together created imagery that felt emotional and lived-in. The kind of photographs that feel more like memories than traditional portraits.

For maternity sessions, I’m always drawn to the in-between moments. The hand resting gently on a growing belly. The laughter between poses. The quiet pauses where everything slows down for just a second. Those are usually the moments families end up holding onto the longest.

City Park continues to be one of my favorite locations for maternity photography in New Orleans because of how organic and versatile it feels. The open greenery, soft light, and natural movement throughout the park create space for sessions to feel relaxed rather than rushed. It allows families to simply be present with one another, which is where the most meaningful photographs are usually found.

Motherhood carries so much emotion long before a baby ever arrives. There’s transformation happening quietly in every stage of it, and documenting that season in an intentional way matters deeply. Years from now, these photographs won’t just remind them what this season looked like. They’ll remind them what it felt like.
